TrackDaze and Grand Am Series Driver Tom Long are pleased to announce the continuation of Enhanced Driver Training at select TrackDaze events. This enhanced program will offer professional coaching, data acquisition, and analysis to Instructors and Advanced Level drivers as an upgrade to the standard event registration. The program is set up to bring the value of professional coaching to its members at an enthusiast-friendly price. By leveraging TrackDaze's existing schedule and resources, along with each driver's knowledge and experience, the program provides several opportunities per event for participants to have access to their services and state-of-the-art data acquisition equipment, while sharing the costs with other members. This approach provides access to these services for a much broader range of drivers, instructors, and racers.

Building on TrackDaze's strong foundation of driver education, this program provides an opportunity for drivers to sample and see the value of data acquisition and personal coaching without investing in hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars in equipment prior to witnessing concrete results. This allows drivers who may have plateaued in their development, those looking to move into the world of wheel-to-wheel competition, and currently licensed club racers access to the tools to reach their goals at a budget friendly cost.

Details:

  • Nominal additional fee to the normal registration fee
  • ONLY open to Advanced drivers and Instructors
  • You receive use of a Traqmate system for one in-car session
  • Tom Long will lay down a few baseline data laps in your vehicle
  • There will be a data review and analysis session with Tom Long - focusing on a few things to work on and areas of improvement

Tom Long

Tom Long started his racing career in grassroots sports car racing with the Showroom Stock & Spec Miata classes. He quickly took a liking to lightweight sports cars, setting multiple track records & winning Championships, while competing in the SCCA Runoffs with podium results. Tom then went on to win the 2005 Mazda MX5 Cup National Championship, before moving into the Grand Am Continental Tire Series in 2006. By 2007, Long was on the steps of the Grand Am podium, winning his first race in the series at home track VIRginia Int'l Raceway in 2009. For 2010, Long was a regular in both the Grand Am Rolex & Continental Tire Series, winning multiple races & a top 5 result in the Championship. 2011 was Long's most celebrated result, leading several hours of the Daytona Rolex 24hr and going on to a podium finish with Dempsey Racing.

Currently, Tom Long is the Team Manager and full-time lead driver for Freedom Autosport, a top Mazda team in the Grand Am Continental Tire Series. In the off weekends, Tom works as a professional driving coaching and instructor with the BMW Performance Driving School & Skip Barber Racing School organizations. He is also a house coach for the VIR Club Members driving events. Tom graduated from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte in 2004 with a degree in business marketing.

TrackDaze puts on some of the safest and most professional track events I attend, but always manages to keep the fun factor alive at the same time.
